Medi-Meal emergency 25+ year shelf life meal program that meets State and Federal regulations. Call us today to make sure your facility’s Joint Commission (TJC) Food and Water plan is fully compliant and ready when it matters most. There are several options to meet the budget and storage space to provide the best tasting and easy to use emergency program to provide all healthcare facilities from Acute care hospitals to senior living communities.

Here is why the Medi-Meal program is superior to other products on the market. Book your Joint Commission (TJC) Food and Water planning consultation and see how freeze-dried solutions can reduce risk while extending shelf life. All our manufacturing #10 cans go through a method called Freeze Drying. The Freeze Drying process removes 99% of moisture via sublimation (frozen to gas), preserving over 90% of original nutrition, flavor, and texture for 25 and up to 30 years.

The other method that is currently out on the market for emergency food uses a method called dehydrated. This option can provide up to a 10 year shelf life, however it has more moisture that can lead to mold and other growth if not stored properly. Here is a list of key differences on why you would want to choose Freeze Dried over Dehydrated foods when thinking about purchasing any emergency food for a healthcare setting.

The other method that is currently out on the market for emergency food uses a method called dehydrated. Here is a list of key differences on why you would want to choose Freeze Dried over Dehydrated foods when thinking about purchasing any emergency food for a healthcare setting.

Maximum Nutrition Retention: Low temperatures preserve the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients rather than using a high heat method of hydrating. This is extremely important for patients that may already have specialty dietary needs or already have a low immune system. See our testimonials to see why healthcare leaders trust our Joint Commission (TJC) Food and Water programs for reliability and compliance.

Superior Shelf Life: Freeze-dried food that is stored properly can last 20 to 30 years, where dehydrated food is usually a 5 to 10 year shelf life. By  removing 99% moisture during the Freeze dried process, this helps eliminate spoilage because the moisture content is too low for bacteria growth. Then you combine it with a fully sealed can that removes 95% of the oxygen, its ideal for a much longer shelf life.

Taste, Texture, and Appearance: Freeze-dried food retains its original shape, color, and texture due to removing moisture at a low temperature. Dehydrated food can be dense, chewy and leathery, where Freeze Dry tends to be light, airy and crispy which allows the food to taste as fresh as the day it was made.

Hydrating time: Freeze Drying process allows the food to hydrate with hot or cold water within a matter of 15 to 30 minutes. Whereas all dehydrated meals or dry mixes require hot water only to hydrate the food. This process takes much longer and does not hydrate or taste as well as when the food was originally made. This is especially not ideal during an emergency when power and gas may not be accessible.

Lightweight Cans: Since the Freeze Drying process removes nearly all water, the food is extremely lightweight, making it ideal for emergency, and long-term storage and having nurses and staff being able to move it to an ideal prepping area without injuries.

No Preservatives: Freeze-drying is a natural preservation process, meaning no added chemicals or artificial materials are required.

Cost: Freeze Drying has an initial higher cost up front due to a longer and better process. However, over the shelf life of the food, and inflation, the food ends up being a better purchase and saving more money over the shelf life of the food, without compromising the quality, flavor or health benefits of the food.

ALL MEDI-MEAL programs are all 25 + year shelf life. Go to our testimonials page to watch how facilities improved preparedness using our State & Federal Compliant Food and Water solutions.

WATER OPTIONS

It is essential to pick the correct water option based on overall needs, budget and facilities space. Call us to get expert guidance selecting the right Joint Commission (TJC) Food and Water storage options based on your space, budget, and census needs. We supply a variety of water options to hit the individual requirement, while meeting Joint Commission and other regulatory requirements. We provide water that ranges from 5 years to 75 years. The facility will want to consider how much space is available to store 1 gallon per person per day up to 7 days. If the facility has a huge warehouse, then the longer shelf life option is best, if not then a 55 gallon barrel with a 5 year shelf life, is going to be the best option. Water is crucial during an emergency, not just for drinking and hydrating food, but for sanitation purposes. Water resources and guidelines:

Whole Story Meals is made from real fruit and vegetables picked at their peak of ripeness and freeze dried to preserve their natural nutrients, without any artificial ingredients. Our strategic formulation of whole, nutritious food arrives in a convenient, powdered form, ready to be rehydrated with the liquid of your choice.

Whole Story Meals is on the cutting edge of the enteral nutrition industry. There is no other enteral product available like Whole Story Meals. We are the only real food powdered meal. We are the only cold-processed meal. And we are the most flexible meal available. Our powdered formulas allow for easy storing, transporting and use, while our cold process protects the nutritional integrity of the ingredients.

The World Health Organization recommends that sugar should represent less than 10% of our total caloric intake, with less than 5% being optimal. This means tube-fed people consuming commercial enteral formulas have a diet that is five times higher than the recommended sugar intake. The disparity is astounding. This is an injustice and must change! Tube-fed people typically have many serious health concerns.

Whole Story Meals’ goal is to support the health of each individual to the best of our ability, empowering quality and longevity of life, and changing the way we treat our most fragile members of society. They deserve the best we have to offer.
